Ghost pipe, or Indian pipe, is a cool looking thing if you come across it. Apt to its name, it looks pipe like yet it is not a fungus! It is a plant that lacks any chlorophyll that give plants that green color. They like to grow in bunches and on this trail there were so many groupings close by.

Other Quick facts:

–Tend to flower through summer to early fall

–Because they don't use chlorophyll, they rely on fungi for nutrients

–They are relatives of blueberries

–Indicators of healthy forest
